# Shifts

In this department, we use [Trident ](https://tridentbot.xyz)to log shifts as it is easy to use and has loads of useful tools.

To start, break or end a shift, just run the [`/shift manage`](https://docs.tridentbot.xyz/info/commands#shift-manage) command in our `#shifts` channel and use the buttons displayed.

## How much shift time do I need to rank up? <a href="#quota" id="quota"></a>

Time required to rank up depends on your rank. You can see how much you need to do per week to be considered for promotion.

<table><thead><tr><th width="219">Rank</th><th>Requirement</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><mark style="color:orange;"><strong>Colonel+</strong></mark></td><td>8 Hours</td></tr><tr><td><mark style="color:orange;"><strong>Major+</strong></mark></td><td>7 Hours</td></tr><tr><td><mark style="color:orange;"><strong>Lieutenant+</strong></mark></td><td>6 Hours</td></tr><tr><td><mark style="color:blue;"><strong>Sergeant+</strong></mark></td><td>5 Hours</td></tr><tr><td><mark style="color:green;"><strong>Corporal+</strong></mark></td><td>4 Hours</td></tr><tr><td><mark style="color:purple;">Trooper+</mark></td><td>3 Hours</td></tr><tr><td>No Warning</td><td>1 Hour</td></tr></tbody></table>

*May change if decided to be too difficult.*
